Chevelle is definitely one of the most sought after bands in aggressive rock music today.
With the hit videos and radio singles, "Send the Pain Below" and "The Red" all over MTV, it seemed only natural for the band
to release a live album.
The album Live From the Road is clearly not as good as the two studio albums Chevelle has released
previously. With ten songs on the live album taken from Point #1 and Wonder What's Next, including
a song that can be found on the Daredevil Soundtrack, there is nothing truly spectacular about the album.
The downside of this album is that the vocals are completely drowned out over the music as well as off key
occasionally. The other downside is at the end of track number 8, "Mia," the leader singer says, "You guys are
all fired up, what the h*ll is going on?," leaving the listener trying to figure out just what was
the point in using profanity, despite being mild. If there is anything truly good about this record,
it would be the track "Until You're Reformed," because it stands out from all of the
other songs.
With Chevelle's success, it is only a question where these guys are heading in the future; we can
only hope that such a great band will move towards God lyrically and spiritually and not fade into the mainstream
like others have before them.
