Jeff Deyo
Surrender

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 12 tracks
Street Date: August 2, 2005

It's been four years since Jeff Deyo made his departure from the then-hit-band SONICFLOOd and became a solo artist. Shortly after Deyo's departure, the remaining original band members disbanded, and bassist Rick Heil formed a new SONICFLOOd from the rubble, leaving fans of the original band wondering, "What just happened here?"

Fans of the "Original SONICFLOOd," as it is now referred to, have found Jeff Deyo's solo music to be a continuation of his work with the SONICFLOOd project, making comparisons between his solo work, and his work with SONICFLOOd impossible to get away from. Surrender is Jeff Deyo's first live release on his own, and fans of the live album SONICPRAISE from his previous band will not be disappointed.

Surprisingly, Surrender is comprised mostly of songs from Jeff Deyo's debut CD Saturate with only two of the twelve tracks coming from Deyo's latest release, Light. Like Saturate and Light, Surrender opens with an introduction track to set the mood for the rest of the album. "Lose Myself" gives the album an energetic start. As he's done in the past with "I Want To Know You," "I Give You My Heart," and "More Love, More Power," Deyo puts his trademark sped up, rocked out touch on the Circadian Rhythm worship song "We Are Hungry."

Also, as with Deyo's previous releases, Surrender doesn't really add anything new to the modern worship genre. Part of what made the original SONICFLOOd album such a huge success was that it was original and innovative for it's time, but Surrender takes more of an "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach. That being said, from start to finish, Surrender gives Jeff Deyo fans what they've come to expect from him: passionate pop/rock worship, with some new twists on some old favorites.
