33Miles
33Miles

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 11 tracks: 43 minutes, 27 seconds
Street Date: April 10, 2007

For Christian music fans, there isn't a whole lot of country music to go around. The most you have is Randy Travis or bands like Third Day who have that southern flavor, but not a straight country sound. Hailing from Nashville, this is where 33Miles shines. With a mix of country, rock and pop, they have a sound that reminds listeners of the ever-popular Rascal Flatts.

The disc has its high points, such as the rock opener, "What Could Be Better," which speaks of meeting Jesus face to face, "Stand Amazed," a classic southern ballad, and "There Is a God," another country themed ballad. 33Miles has the kind of sound that will likely garner them Christian radio success, no matter what song it is. The album sounds a bit thrown together at points, however, with softer songs more than anything else. It starts with a straight southern rock song and then goes into five ballads, then switches gears again to pop with the fun "Thank You" and "I Can't Deny," before switching back to basically ballads for the rest of the eleven-track album. Lead singer Jason Barton can stretch his vocals pretty far, but on a few songs he pushes a little too far. It's not overdone, but he does have his moments. The best thing about 33Miles is likely the three member's ability to harmonize exceptionally well on the choruses.

Overall, this is a decent debut for 33Miles. Southern music fans will find a lot to love here, and expect to be hearing a lot from these guys on Christian rock and pop radio.
