Geoff Moore
Geoff Moore

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 11 tracks: 47 minutes, 35 seconds
Street Date: September 21, 1999

Geoff Moore has definitely gone the distance on his new solo CD. "Out Here" is the first song and I could picture a little child plunking away at the piano keys in the beginning of the song. It was cute and besides- we're supposed to have Faith like a child, right? This song really hit home because chaos is needed to be put aside.

The line "You are faithful, I'm forgetful of the ways You are always graceful" in the 2nd song, "String Around My Finger," is so true. Sometimes as humans, we forget what God did for us by sending Jesus, His only Son, to die for our sins. Lyrically, this song really spoke to me, however, it failed to musically.

Even though Jesus was the Son of God, He was also just a boy once, too. It was neat hearing the words to "Boy Like Me, Man Like You" and wondering how His life was when He was a child. Not much is said in the Bible about little Jesus.

"With You" is a simple, yet beautiful song. The lyrics for "My Own Backyard" put in perspective how the whole United States is also a mission field. The love of God needs to be shared here, in our own backyard.

The music in the song "Belong" was so serene and peaceful. I found "Best Friends, God's Love, and Great Times" to be a meaningful and thought-provoking song as well. We all have a friend from our early childhood that we hung out with but then lost track of. We wonder where they are now, what they're doing, and if they know Christ.

I really enjoyed this album lyrically. Musically, it had more of a coffeehouse atmosphere sound to it. However, Steven Curtis Chapman and other contributors to the project really helped it out a lot.
