First, let me explain that Southern Tracks is not an official Third Day album.
This is a (I hate to use the word for a record as good as this, but...) b-sides disc. You will not
find this rare release in stores anymore.
Southern Tracks features four songs. The songs are pretty good, the best of which is
probably "Underwater," a powerful song about baptism. "It's About Time" is another pretty good
song about giving Jesus your life. It contains lyrics like: "It's about time that I tried to
live my life for more than myself. It's about time I tried to live my life for Jesus and walk
in his strength." The other cool thing about this song is that just when you think it's
over, it keeps going. But "Long Time Coming" and the confusing "She Sings in Riddles" are more
classic Third Day songs - not that that's a bad thing. These songs just aren't anything
compared to those found on their regular albums.
But that's the thing: this should not be compared to another Third Day album. With only
four songs, clocking in under twenty minutes, it serves as a treat for Third Day junkies like me.
My musical tastes are changing as I get older, but Third Day will
always be a personal favorite. And that is what makes this project so good.
