    For our 6th annual Highlighting feature, we're doing things a little differently. Normally, we select our top 25 most anticipated releases for the whole year, but we realize that it's tough to really gauge EVERYTHING that may release throughout a given year when we're making the list in January. So, for 2012, we're splitting the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December (Click here for Part 2). Also, we're making each list 15 artists/releases for a total of 30 in 2012. So, without further ado, we give you Highlighting First-Half 2012!

#4. Sixpence None The Richer
Lost In Transition

Release Date: Spring 2012
Even after a few years of wondering if it would ever see the light of day, I still haven't given up hope for a new Sixpence record. More official signs of a 2012 release have appeared online, so maybe, just maybe, this is the year. No matter when it releases, it should certainly be worth the wait.

I wasn't quite a 6p believer until I finally saw them perform live in 1998. Ever since then, my heart (and ears) have gravitated toward this duo's work. I've been delighted at the thought of a new Sixpence album since they announced it a few years ago, and label issues have kept a new album floating in limbo--YET AGAIN--for these poor guys. Still, with Leigh Nash promising the new album this spring (whether it's Strange Conversation or the rumored Lost In Transition), I have high hopes in what should be another fine entry into the band's musical catalog.

Well, it's about time. After the long-awaited Blindside album came out last summer, Sixpence None the Richer is finally following suit with their long-awaited new album this spring. Reportedly an indie release, this just piques our already-high levels of keen interest. Leigh Nash and Matt Slocum realize the high bar they've set for themselves, and we can't wait to hear their answer.
