Nashville, Tenn. (October 12, 2012) - 5-time GRAMMY® Award winner TobyMac's career continues to explode following his No. 1 debut on the Billboard Top 200 chart last month. The 11-million plus selling artist recently received his second American Music Award nomination for the Favorite Artist, Contemporary/Inspirational, category.
The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on November 18th at 8/7c on ABC. For the sixth year, fans will determine the winners by online voting at www.AMA.ABC.com.
Set to headline the Winter Jam West Coast Tour, TobyMac recently kicked off his own "EYE ON IT" tour with sold out shows. The tour also features GMA New Artists of the Year, Jamie Grace (2012) and Chris August (2011). Post Winter Jam, he will headline his "HITS DEEP" tour. With over 11 million units in career sales, TobyMac's career continues on the fast track, with his most recent project, EYE ON IT, garnering him the highest chart debut of his solo career landing at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200. The album also topped iTunes® Overall and Christian sales charts. TobyMac's previous four solo projects have received RIAA Gold certification and his live DVD, Alive & Transported, is certified platinum by the RIAA and received a GRAMMY® award. In 2012, the much-celebrated and acclaimed artist celebrated his eighth consecutive GRAMMY® nomination, this time for his songwriting contribution to rising star (and recording artist on his label, Gotee Records) Jamie Grace's No. 1 hit "Hold Me." His 2009 album Tonight received GRAMMY® nods for "Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album" and "Best Contemporary Christian Song" with "City On Our Knees" the track that topped the sales and radio charts faster than any of his previous singles, spending eight weeks at No. 1 on the Christian Audience Chart.
