NEWS SOURCE: Abandon Kansas, Gotee Records, a Jesusfreakhideout.com report
July 28, 2009

This week, Gotee Records and indie pop/rock band Abandon Kansas announced the recent signing of the band to the label. A FREE download of the band's song "I Wonder If It's Me" is available on gotee.com for all registered users. You can listen to that song as well as the song "Make Believe" at MySpace.com/AbandonKansas.

This morning, the band announced the partnership...

"We are excited to announce that we have officially joined the Gotee Records family. This band has been around for several years and label offers have come and gone. We finally found a label that fits who we are as musicians and who we are as dudes. It was definitely worth holding out for the right fit. We couldn't be happier with the way this record turned out and the opportunities Gotee has already given us. We want to make more music for you to get your hands on and we want to be able to release that in bigger and better ways. Gotee is going to help us do exactly that!

Our first label release "We're All Going Somewhere" comes out September 8th. This cd was produced by Mark Townsend and mixed by JR McNeely. You can hear two tracks from this cd on our myspace player now!

Also, you can pre-order our record with a rad new shirt from www.gotee.com/store or www.abandonkansas.storenvy.com

Thank you so much for sticking with us the last two years we've been touring with our songs from the full length. Finally, new music is right around the corner!

What a fun/crazy/wild/exhausting/rewarding journey this band has been, but I have a feeling the best is yet to come! Feel free to leave some love...

Love
Abandon Kansas"

About the band, Gotee Records writess...

Welcome to the Gotee family...Abandon Kansas!

If you ask Jeremy Spring, frontman for the quartet Abandon Kansas, what it is that motivates he and his band, you may be shocked at the answer. And in the answer to this question lies the very thing that sets his band apart from the endless parade of fame-seekers in this industry:

“As far as long term goals, none of us have any desire to be rich and famous. If we can keep connecting with people through music then we'll be content. There are way too many bands out there already so we're trying to make what we do a little bigger than music.”

And deliver something larger than just music is exactly what they do on their debut release from Gotee Records, the We’re All Going Somewhere EP (available only at iTunes and shows on September 8). With fearless hearts, ingenious songwriting, and poignant wit, Spring and company shine like supernovas among fading stars. This is indie pop/rock that will surprise you with its candor and cause you to contemplate the deepest recesses of your heart.

The band linked up with producer Mark Townsend (Relient K, House of Heroes) for what promises to be a highlight in his already amazing resume’. We’re All Going Somewhere comes with a full chamber; this is six shots, not just a couple rounds.

In the end, Abandon Kansas succeeds where so many fail because of their hearts as a unit, their commitment to a unique vision, and most of all because of their one-of-a-kind voice.

We are all going somewhere. And Abandon Kansas is taking us there.

Or at least they are pointing us to the door...

“If people remember anything from our concerts I hope it's not the band name and the crazy dance moves. I hope that long after our tshirts have been given away to thrift stores and our cds have been lost, people will remember having been drawn to something and someone much more important than music.”
