09. Now That It's Over

Rise
by Building 429

I brace my heart for the relapse
I’m waiting now for the shame
I’ve been somewhere and I won’t go back again

I’m holding out for some mercy
I’m praying that you’ll forgive
I’ve said something and I can’t take it back again

I’m sorry now, now that it’s over
You’re world crashed down, and I ran for cover
I’m sorry now, now that it’s over

How I wanted to show the way
So I pushed you aside I wanted to save the day, but I let you cry

How I stood there so silently
And let the moments pass by
I was too late to change the phrase and it crushed your life

I’m sorry now, now that it’s over
You’re world crashed down, and I ran for cover
I’m sorry now, now that it’s over

We all want to lead but we’re falling behind
Everyone wants to save themselves
We all want to lead but we’re falling behind
Everyone wants to save themselves

written by Jason Roy, Scotty Beshears, Jesse Garcia

Behind the Song:
"A call to all leaders: We are leaders born to empower other people, not ideals. Looking back over my life, I find moments that could be considered brilliance and moments that weren’t so beautiful. I’ve always been one to fight my way to the front of the pack and then lead with resolve – yet that hasn’t always been a great thing. In my prayers, God has revealed situations where I had the right intent but missed the bigger picture. Leadership isn’t about building a corporation, a ministry or a career – it’s about building up people. At its core, this is a song of apologies to those people that I chose not to invest in, for those few sad moments in life when I decided it was easier done alone than together. It also serves as a benchmark of realization and a cornerstone to the new foundation of a house that the Lord is building up in each of us in Building429. We are all leaders and it’s time to lead well." - Jason Roy (Building 429)
