When you're reaching for the sky
Do you ever wonder why
You always come up empty
But it's still so tempting
It's the same old story
Chorus:
Summers pass
You tell yourself you're changing
Free at last cause now you're rearranging
All that was it hurts because
Sleepless nights
Remind you that you're standing
Still between the jump
And where you're landing
Sight and sound will lift you down
Fires bum for just one night
They only give off so much light
Do you really need that
Or are you trying to feed that
Hunger deep within you
You'll never fill that space
Time cannot erase
The emptiness that makes you numb
Search for something real
Maybe then you'd feel the son

Behind the Song:“’Lift You Down’ was inspired by the “give it to me now” attitude that we often have. It was a song that we thought would never make it to the public. Nathan (our producer) heard it and said he loved it and thought the world needed to hear this song. I think spinning your wheels—spiritually speaking—and feeling stuck between a jump and a landing is a common human emotion. Matt and I were blessed to be able to co-write this song with an amazing writer named Robert Ellis Oral. He helped us stretch out of our typical mold so that we could write an amazing song that adds some variety to the album.” - Jacob McGinnis (
