A lot of the heavy Christian rock groups sing in a matter that it is nearly impossible to understand the lyrics. Others, when the vocals are clear, the lyrics are unclear. Though the quest for their meaning may be rewarding, sometimes simple messages are much more magnificent. Not only is Disciple's vocalist Kevin Young clearly understood, but also nearly every word sung/screamed/rapped by him is quoted from the Bible. Young's ability to take passages from several different books to create a single theme for a song is incredible. Back Again kicks off with the title cut. The song refers to a life where one has turned back to God, and back to the Truth after have turning away from it for some time. Young wrote it during a time where he himself was feeling that way.

"Fear" is a personal favorite. It's almost an anthem for all of us who occasionally need a reminder that God is bigger than all our fears. Romans 8:31 (...If God is for us, who can be against us?) is the core of the chorus. Another highlight is "Before You." The song is possibly the hardest worship song there is. The entire theme is just giving God all glory and asking for power from the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). My only problem with the album is the redundancy. After 13 tracks, the album beings to blend together and all the songs begin to sound the same. A little variety would not be a bad experiment for Disciple. Then, again, the band sticks to what they do best.

Despite the redundancy, Back Again is a very tight album. Every song has a message, and you know it is God's message. Just the idea of writing lyrics straight from scripture is cool, and the fact that they are able so it so well and make it rock so hard is incredible.

If you're one of those people that love to hear heavy metal Christian music, than this is the album for you. Disciple is a band right out of Knoxville, TN. I can't say enough good things about this album.

If you're like me, you love the heavy metal and the screaming vocals. If you don't, this album isn't for you. Probably my personal favorite song on Back Again is "Not the Same." They use this song to tell of how people may look the same as the world on the outside; but in reality, they may be born again Christians. That's the kind of messages that are relayed through this headbanging whirlwind.

There are very few bad points in this album. They are there however. After a little while, you may think you're listening to the same thing over and over again. This isn't that big of a problem; but it is however a small one. Back Again is very hardcore; and you may like that; but seriously, after a while, you may begin to get a small headache if it is up loud enough.

Back Again is better than their first albums. I highly recommend this record. I also recommend By God, another great album from Disciple.
