Evergreen

Release Date: February 23, 2018
Audrey Assad had her fingerprints on two of the best albums of last year (The Porter’s Gate worship project and an epic vocal hook on Propaganda’s Crooked), and she continues to put out great album after great album. This indie force-to-be-reckoned-with has forged her own path, and the early songs from Evergreen are great. Mixing a David Gray sonic pallet with a Sarah Mclachlan soulfulness, Assad might have an ’album of the year’ candidate on her hands, and a great album for the winter months ahead.

Audrey Assad is one of the few artists in the worship game that continually pushes her creativity into new territory. There's no doubt that this next release will be good, it's just a matter of what kind of good that we'll be getting that is the question.

As a fan of fellow and similar musicians Nichole Nordeman, Sara Groves, and Assad’s previous work Inheritance, I have big expectations for Audrey Assad’s soon-to-release Evergreen. My hope is for thoughtful commentary on life, love, politics, and the Kingdom around simple but catchy piano melodies.

Can you beileve it has been four-and-a-half years since we've gotten a full-length original album from Assad? Considering how many EPs, features, hymns, and other creative endeavours we've seen from her, it hardly seems like we've waited for anything at all from our favorite Catholic CCM artist. But that also means she's gonna have a pretty high bar to clear with Evergreen. Here's to hoping!
