Lyrics:
For so long my life was good But suddenly, it hit the fan My wife decides to push eject My kids call me the bogeyman My salary’s on life support But you should see the lawyer's haul Speeding down the road of life I ran myself into a wall Chorus I’m looking for joy through all the pain I’m grasping for hope in the pouring rain Just when I think it can't get worse I'm crushed by yet another curse But I choose to see That pain is weakness leaving me I came into this world With nothing to my name It looks like I’ll be leaving soon With pretty much the same Nothing seems worth doing Where's my Blessed ending now God give me the peace, I pray. Just enough to last the day Chours Bridge I may be feeling beat up And running out of luck It’s time to offer it up Let Grace fill my cup Chorus
Behind the Song: Marine Corps legend, Chesty Puller, coined the phrase “pain is weakness leaving the body.” I relate to its meaning; as painful as my circumstances were, I took solace in my personal growth. These words are the inspiration behind the lyrics in the next song. Thanks to my good friend Eric, who supplied many of the phrases in this song!
