It is safe to say that This Holiday Life has come a long way from their beginnings, and The Beginning Of The End Of The World is a pleasant surprise from their previous albums.
Scott Anderson's vocals are not a huge leap from previous records, but the melodies are more prevalent and, although this may sound cliche, catchier as well. The first song on the album, "A Yes Not a No" is "radio friendly" if you will, and is also quite a nice song with an interesting piano intro. Altogther this is a great start for the record.
The next song, "Mission Control to My Heart," cranks up the bass, drums, and electric guitar. Key lyrics include "Our love, our love, our love is strong." Other standout tracks include "Undercover," "Friendly Fire," and "Motivation." The album concludes with a nice ballad called, "On Top."
Unfortunately, The Beginning Of The End Of The World ended up meaning more than just an album title as This Holiday Life is no longer making music. But this album serves as a great end to a great band.
