READER RATING:

I feel like Write This Down has fallen off the face of the planet, but thankfully they independently recently released a short sampling, the Foundations EP, with all proceeds going toward a new full-length release. Suffice it to say, that makes me a happy camper. WTD does a great blend of heavy, catchy and emo-driven tracks all at the same time, and this quick five song EP gives pretty standard fare for what one would expect from WTD.

The title track starts off with a smooth rock tune about the life of the band, lyrically focused on their fight to succeed in the industry, "I will never give up...I know that we're gonna make it." "Cliffs And Cars" is fast paced, purposefully reckless and catchy, while "Drag Me Down" contains lyrical gems such as "don't mistake my love for sorrow."

"Tomorrow's Coming" (which uses the word "d*mn" several times in the chorus) delivers stellar head-banging drums overall and "It's Not Like We're Kids" stands out among the rest. It's a great track about the difficulties of life and responsibilities that we all go through, with heavy-hearted words sung, "there are mountains of bills and laundry all over the floor. We've got kids of our own and we're tearing them all apart." All of the tracks are solid and a nice addition to the Write This Down library, but it just makes me want that full-length release all the more.
