The first song on Silage's latest effort, Vegas Car Chasers, "Original," laid the foundation for the whole album. Silage has bass, percussion, vocals and guitar throughout this recording, but they put it together unlike anyone else.
"Billboards" was the very first song that I found myself groovin' to. It's a mixture of jazz, hip-hop, ska, punk, etc… -- great stuff. Damian Horne made a nice additional sound on "Beatnik" with his trombone expertise in the background. I would have to say that after listening to the disc all the way through, that my favorite song was "Verb."
Overall, the lyrics on this record are very clear. I didn't have to pick up the CD jacket to figure out what they were singing. Their songs made me stop and think about the underlying meaning in them. Their song "Ketchup is Mustard" was surprisingly one of these songs.
When all was said and done, I enjoyed this record and wished that it was longer than thirty seven minutes. If you are feeling in the mood for something different, go and check out Vegas Car Chasers by Silage.
