Impending Doom
The Sin and Doom of Godless Men EP

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 5 tracks: 15 minutes, 45 seconds
Street Date: 2005

Let me begin with a brief creative description: A guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer (who replaced his snares with pots and pans) walked into a studio one day with their pet pterodactyl, their grandma's pet pig, and a frog (they hit on the way there), and recorded an album that glorified God.

The album begins with a small sound clip from the movie King Arthur. Less than five seconds after the sound clip ends, you are met with sheer relentless "Bree Bree" brutality (which is where the pig and pterodactyl come in). This brutality follows true throughout all five tracks. While there mere be a slightly abusive use of the same breakdowns or riffs, that doesn't mean you'll get bored or feel like the song isn't progressing. The band did a great job at cycling their breakdowns so you only hear the same one once or twice per song. Vocally, you get everything from hard screams, Bree's, and odd yells, all of which sound inhuman.

Lyrically, the album is very condemning, minus the last song (which is about one of the member's mothers who had died of cancer). The band didn't mince any words to be sure the message of God got out in a rather bold manner.

Overall, the album is great for any big fan of brutal death metal or grindcore. Those who like Impending Doom's album There Will Be Violence or The Serpent Servant may not like this one so much as it is much more brutal and unorganized than those two. This album is definitely recommended for fans of The Twelfth Amethyst, Abated Mass of Flesh, On Solid Ground, or any "bree bree" band.
