If you're into CHH and you somehow missed it, we recently released a free hip hop compilation and two of the many artists featured are Emcees Travis Harmon (reSEARCH) and Jon Corbin (The Runaway). The duo has a most unique story behind putting together this EP. They were attending a show and simply tossing out rhymes with each other - strangers at the time - in a parking lot. They liked each other's flow so much they decided to make an EP. Six years later, here we are. The first of seven tracks listed is "Here We Go," which tells part of that cool meeting story mentioned before and the style had me drawing some Krum comparisons. The next two tracks "Take It Easy" and "Real Thugs" are very chill and carry soulful beats that kept bringing me back to the early 2000's in CHH. Both tracks have a laid back approach production-wise (with all tracks being produced by Sean P and Customary) and the emcees spit nicely giving off solid chill vibes. Later on, "Life, Love, and the Pursuit" speaks to the message of making Christ the center of our lives and that message is pretty prevalent throughout this short sampling. All in all, this is purposefully not your modern day Christian rap, but rather something refreshing that pays homage to old school CHH. If you're into today's Christian rap scene (Reach Records, Humble Beast, Collision Records) this may not be what you're looking for, but if you're looking for something outside of the box, this may be exactly what you need to check out.
