Idle Cure had parted ways with guitarist Chuck King, who left to co-form the band Shout. The writing, timbre, and even album title reflect the paradigm shift in musical direction. Tough Love was a much darker, somber, and more reflective offering.
Additionally, the band had been moved by their experiences with an evangelical mission in Europe, and the material herein is very much indicative. With all this going on, Idle Cure's ability to grow musically and spiritually is nothing short of remarkable. While this sophomore project is not as fresh as their initial album, it nevertheless provides the seeds and insight for the next splendid release, Second Avenue. A great band undergoing great growth.
Song highlights include "Frontline," So Many Faces," and "Hungry Hearts."
