09. All Part of the Walk

Still The Cross
by FFH

Listen:

Lyrics:

This isn’t in any book
Where was this when I signed up?
I think I want my money back
I thought I’d take a look
Then all of a sudden I jumped in
Without ever lookin’ back

Life threw me a curve
And I was blind-sided
I didn’t know
I didn’t know

It’s all part of the walk
All part of this thing we call
Life and living
It’s all part of the walk
All part of this thing we call
The way of giving
Up our lives to eventually find that
You’re in control
It’s all part of the walk

Somewhere I forgot
Life has little twists and turns
You never see what's comin’ up
I thought I was cool and I’m not
Now there is no easy way out
I guess I need to toughen up

I picked myself up
Wiped the dust off
And I live and learn
I live and learn

I finally got in the game
But got thrown out a second base
Oh well at least I tried
I can’t dwell upon these things
What’s done is done, it can’t be changed
I’ll do my best next time

Life threw me a curve
And I was blind-sided
I didn’t know
I didn’t know

Behind the Song:
"I wrote the chorus for this song around the same time we brought Hutch home from the hospital. It was a really hard time because we were busy planning a tour and were having to get up several times a night. So this came out of one of those times when it’s really too much to take all in one day and you want to just give up. It’s about the stuff of life and about messing up. I co-wrote it with Brian, who brought a completely different angle to this piece, so it was great to have his thumbprint on it." - Jeromy Deibler (FFH)
