"So many situations can hold us down. So many scenarios can inhibit our growth as people, or our growth as Christians. And most importantly, sometimes we look at God as holding us back from things we want or places we want to be subconsciously. When circumstances you have put yourself in keep you down, run from them. When you wish you were somewhere you shouldn’t be, and God’s way seems frustratingly acceptable, wake up and realize how deceptive your mind can be, and how good God really is. This song begs the question from God’s standpoint, “Am I keeping you from life? Or am I keeping you alive?” When I am faced with temptation to be somewhere I should not be, I often times begrudgingly accept God’s way. This is stupid. I have tasted and seen life, and yet I want death. God, help me to say goodbye to the past and praise you for pulling me up out of the mire.
