Somewhere in the world, there is a guy named Wes Dando (Dawn-doe). And this man is smiling
because his name is being used oh so well by a Seattle-based trio who has been together since 1998. Influences
range from Blur to Built to Spill, to Jimmy Eat World and The Beatles. They have played with bands such as
Pedro The Lion and Aaron Sprinkle as well as having Mr. Sprinkle produce their debut The Tired Hours.
Also, no word yet on their fictional character being related to Modular/ EMI’s Evan Dando.
Wes Dando puts Weezer to shame. If you thought that was nerd rock, Dando goes above and beyond the limits
of chic. Lead singer Erick Newbill’s vocals seem muffled but perfectly dissimilar to the melodious musical
quality. The guitar licks and piano keys add a 60’s and 70’s Brit rock appeal that won’t take you long to fall
in love with. Try to find a weak track on this album; you won’t.
Wes Dando is doing it, and doing it just great. This band of three is melodic emotional geek rock that will
be put on repeat for weeks to come. For fans of the British Invasion and the Geek Rock Air Raid, definitely
be on the lookout for this Wes Dando assault.
