SEATTLE, WA - November 25, 2014 - BEC Recordings has released a new Christmas EP this week from The Modern Post (Dustin Kensrue). The EP Lowborn King is available digitally everywhere and features five songs including Kensrue's take on Christmas classics as well as a re-recording of his own song "This Is War." "I love Christmas songs and there's a few classics on this EP that I haven't tackled before, as well as a new arrangement of my song 'This Is War' with an added bridge that some friends and I wrote a couple years back," shares Dustin Kensrue of The Modern Post. "There's also my new arrangement of a great song called 'Child of Glory' by my friend Brian Eichelberger, who is also the producer of this EP and my album The Water & The Blood. Lastly I wrote a new arrangement of 'Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence,' a very old Christmas hymn that we lifted a bit out of it's overly somber vibe and added a new chorus. In the end, I think that what really defined the overall direction for this project was that rather than trying to shoot for some sort of classic Christmas vibe, we set out to let the lyrical content really drive the arrangements and moods of each song and I'm really pleased with the result."
Last year Kensrue released his solo worship project The Water and The Blood, which was well-received by fans and media debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard Christian chart, No. 52 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 10 on the overall Vinyl chart. The album was a collection of mostly original worship songs, blending modern musical sensibilities and sounds with lyrics expounding a depth of theological truth. Media praised the album as it was featured in outlets like Worship Leader, HM Magazine, Absolute Punk, Property of Zach, Christian Post, JesusFreakHideout, NewRelease Tuesday and AltPress. Prior to his role as a worship leader, Kensrue was known primarily as the voice of the rock band Thrice, which is currently on an extended hiatus after 14 years, eight albums and vigorous touring.
