Cool Hand Luke Returns To Fan-Fund New Album, "Cora"

It's been six years since founding member of Cool Hand Luke released his last project under the band's moniker. Of Man was set to close the book on indie rock band Cool Hand Luke's story, but recently, Mark Nicks -- lead vocalist and drummer for CHL -- announced a new album, titled Cora. The album is currently fundraising on Kickstarter with less than 5 days left.

"I am working on a new Cool Hand Luke album called "Cora." It is in every way a labor of love," writes Nicks. "I am not a 'professional' musician anymore, but I will never stop being a musician. We can't all get paid to do what we love, but we all need outlets to do the things that bring us life. For me it is sharing my heart and my hope through creating and recording music."

Nicks continues:

"For almost 20 years, Cool Hand Luke has been my primary creative outlet, and it has been a profound honor. You, the supporters of this music, have all been so kind to me and Cool Hand Luke over the years. Cool Hand Luke has never been simply music or simply entertainment. We have always wanted it to be an honest testimony to what it means to be a struggling human being, in light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. If the music points you somewhere, the hope is that it points you not to our merch page, but to Jesus himself.

"Cora" is no exception. It is born out of my wrestling with death, existential questions of vocation, faith, relationships, and purpose. As heavy as all of those things sound, I have had a lot of fun writing these songs, and I've learned a lot through the process.

As the fun part of the process comes to an end, I'd like to ask you to consider coming alongside me to bring this record to fruition. I am seeking to raise $8,000 to cover the costs of recording, mixing, and mastering "Cora," as well as the production of CD's and vinyl.

Also, I am writing music all the time. I have plans for a conceptual worship album, some more piano and string-based music, and some more rockers. I'm hoping that the release of music will sustain the further release of music. So please consider supporting Cool Hand Luke, through contributing to the Kickstarter for "Cora."
