Touring with the likes of Cool Hand Luke, Norma Jean (Luti-kriss), Brandtson, and many more have formed
a quick, major following for the North Carolina boys of Beloved. Molding hardcore, emo, and rock
into one, the band is now on track to conquer the emocore scene with their debut EP, The Running, on Vindicated From
Deep Water Records.
Leading the way is “Kiss It Goodbye,” a hardcore emotional tune that doesn’t leave pop too far behind
while “The Blue Period” keeps up a brisk pace. “Going Through The Motions” brings to mind Thursday and Zao
accumulating a definite hit where “Before There Was You There Was Everything” starts off in almost nerd rock style
but finishes as a soaring rock anthem. And finally, “The Aftermath” ends with screaming and melody mixed in a nice
manner.
Beloved doesn’t write songs, they make epics. This is a delightful change from the 'two minutes here and then
quickly gone' mentality that bands are doing these days. A solid record with solid songs, this only shows a hint
of bright things to come. Fans of Cool Hand Luke, Thursday, Saved By Grace, Norma Jean, and Zao will love this
fresh-faced band that will only get better with time. If you like hardcore, you will love Beloved.
