There always seem to be two different paths that artists have to choose between to tread when they record their next project. They can either keep the same style they have now and record new material, or test the waters in a new style or direction. 1999 pop sensation FFH has chosen the prior. Does it work? Yes. Is it the most desired path? Depends.

Here's their postion: Best New Artist of 1999, a critically acclaimed debut album that broke sales records, a good following, etc. What to do? Where to go? Well, not only did they choose the direction that seemed wisest, but they chose a unique way of doing it.

The quartet formed an 11-song devotional listening experience. Instead of traditional written devotionals in a book or magazine, the band has set simple life applications, supported by scripture, to music. So, the question is: 'how do they pull this off?'

Take their first release, I Want to Be Like You and insert these lyrics and you have Found a Place. But one thing I like about Found a Place better than their previous project is the mood. It's more encouraging, more worshipful, and an all-around good pop recording. The disc opens with "When I Praise," a praise song FFH-style that is worthy of being sung at any church or youth event.

One thing that often pulls me into FFH's music is not only the soothing melodies and peaceful music, but the unique percussion. For example, on "Found A Place," after the vocals and acoustic guitar come in, what sounds like a metal drum or garbage can comes in creating a very earthy and just plain different sound than the expected norm. "Why Do I" starts right off with the tasty drum beat before Jennifer Deibler's soft vocals (as opposed to usually Jeromy Deibler's) enter.

With not a song found out of place, Found a Place accomplishes what it was set out to do. All one can do is look forward to the steps this group will be taking in the future.
