Andrew Carlton
Falling In

Album length: 10 tracks: 37 minutes, 31 seconds
Street Date: May 18, 2004

Out of Knoxville, Tennessee, Andrew Carlton delivers infectious pop/rock on his Flying Leap Record release Falling In. Try and imagine a more-pop-and-less-folk-influenced Silers Bald. Urban elements are even present. But it is still not enough to keep Carlton's sophomore release from sounding like most acoustic pop/rock flooding the Christian market today. However, the tunes are catchy enough and the messages clear enough to keep most pop fans interested.

But pop/folk fans are the only ones that need apply. This is very much a non-accessible record to any and all that do not dig the recent crop of pop artists flooding the market. Still, for those that do, this is, indeed, a gem. Every track will become ingrained in your mind, and you will be singing for days.

Most times when an album tries to be especially catchy, however, it severely lacks in the lyrical department. Fortunately, that is not the case here. The focus is definitely God. From "Taking On the World" (About taking the Gospel to the masses) to the reggae-influenced finale "Shaken" (About the incredible feeling of God in your life), Falling In is a great look into the Christian life and how it can be furthered for the purpose of serving God.

Fans Big Daddy Weave, Casting Crowns, and the like will rejoice at the release of Andrew Carlton's Falling in. Others might not be as welcoming. But, for the many fans of the genre, this is a great release and a wonderful example of the talent Andrew has to offer.
