Reigning from Lawrenceburg, Kentucy and having come together as a band dedicated to serving the Lord, indie rockers OneDayLess have a lot to tip their hats to. Having only been a band for a couple of years, OneDayLess has already established itself in and around the greater Kentucky area. Not to mention, Broken is their second indie release. That's not too shabby for a band trying to make it in an overcrowded market.

With a new record under their belts, OneDayLess is ready to leave a mark on the music scene and perhaps even make a few fans along the way. The album opener "Blinded" begins with an electric guitar and drum lead in, with vocals instantly reminding you of Vince Lichlyter of Jonah33. The song tells the story of a girl who's fallen under the weight of the world, but refuses to lean upon faith. The next song, "Show Me Your Grace" is a slower and more worshipful song, bearing a "nothing can compare to knowing You" theme. As Christians, we can try to describe in detail what it's like to know Him to an unbeliever, but they won't fully know what we mean until they come to know God for themselves. "With You" is your typical worship song with a musical style comparable to Mercy Me. The next song is one Christians can relate to. When you came to God, you were subject to a "Beautiful Surrender." You laid your life at His feet and turned from your old ways. This song captivates the emotion of that particular surrender. "Pictures Painted" is a rocking, upbeat relief to the slower previous track. "Through Me" brings you to your feet while "You Are Lord" brings you to your knees. The album continues its rock streak with "From This Day On" and "Hold Me," while "Come My Way" ends the album on a slow worship-minded note.

Overall, the album was a rock/pop rollercoaster shifting from one extreme to the next. However, it was rather fun and entertaining to listen to. Not a bad record for a Sunday afternoon drive. For an indie record, the production isn't all that bad. Sure, it could have used more work, but few indie record don't.

Fans of bands such as Jonah 33 and Mercy Me will love the musical and vocal abilities of OneDayLess. Of course the album isn't completely original, but why concentrate on originality before you have a fan base? Give the band a few more years and let them grow musically, then I'll bet you'll be hearing them on your local Christian radio station. Until then, pick up this album and cherish the lyrical beauty of this independent release.
