Burden Of A Day has been around for a few years now, and I've come to expect good music from the foursome out of Sarasota. However, when a band brings in a new lead singer, change is inevitable. So will the outcome be positive or negative? Simply stated, the difference in the new Burden Of A Day is basically a matter of taste. Let me explain.

New lead vocalist Kyle Tamosaitis has a rather high-pitched singing voice (similar to mainstream acts Pierce The Veil or Chiodos) and the bottom line with those types of bands is that people basically love or hate the sound. So, if you're into the uniqueness of his voice coupled with some good growls, then this is a nice change. If you're not, then this band may not be your cup of tea. As soon as you pop in Oneonethousand, it becomes apparent that Burden Of A Day has a very different sound. "Remember" actually features former lead singer Kendall Knepp, but the sound is different from what I remember hearing in previous releases. This song, as well as a good chunk of the rest of the album, carries great lyrics like "who will rescue me from this body of death." Lyrics like "My body will fall before I let you down - I know all about your weeping heart" from the track "My Forfeit," a song heard later on in the record, are another example. The boys in the band have kept the pace as fast and strong musically as before and that's clearly evident in "The Shame In Shedding Wool," "Oneonethousand," and "Sly Foxes."

Despite the changes, Burden Of A Day has stayed true to producing meaningful tracks with messages about being strong for God when others don't or how people are trying to run away from truth as opposed to embracing it. The rest of the album is comprised of decent to good tracks and an instrumental, though the latter seems like a weak addition as this is only a ten track album. All in all, however, this is a good listen. It may not be one to spin in your player for a very long time, but it's worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre or a fan of the band. It's a slight step down from the previous music Burden Of A Day has released, but still worth a listen.
