PFR
The Late, Great PFR

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 17 tracks: 68 minutes, 58 seconds
Street Date: 1997

PFR is has chalked up an impressive career in the short years they've been a band. They debuted their first album in 1992 with three full-length projects following. They've had a tremendous career, garnering six number one singles with even a Grammy award to their name. But in 1996, after the release of Them, the band many have come to love decided to put an end to something they felt needed closure. PFR broke up. In June of 1997, the trio regrouped to record three final tunes for a greatest hits album aptly titled, The Late, Great PFR.

The Late, Great PFR features thirteen of the band's best songs chosen by fans worldwide via the band's official website. In addition to these hits, fans are treated to three brand new songs exclusive to this release. "Name" falls in line next to the edgy "Pour Me Out" literally as well as musically. Reminding us that we wear God's name, "Name" is one of the hardest-driven tracks the band has recorded to date. "Forever" sits on the other side of the spectrum as a great ballad about heaven that had found a home on pop radio. Finally, "Fare Thee Well" is a goodbye song written by lead singer Joel Hanson for his bandmates Pat and Mark. It's an upbeat and fun song, but sad when realizing its PFR's swan song. The Late, Great PFR is worth buying just for the new songs, but the hidden track is the clincher, written about one of our favorite barnyard animals (I won't give it away).

The Late, Great PFR is probably the last project you'll ever see from this Minnesota-based trio, so check it out in stores now.
