In a day in age when something new and good is hard to find, 27-year-old Aaron Spiro was plucked out of the underground scene and given a chance to share his talents with the rest of the world. Sing is Spiro's debut recording, smartly produced by the likes of the legend Charlie Peacock and the experienced Jacquire King (Smash Mouth, Third Eye Blind).
Sing wastes no time getting started as its title cut draws the listener in with its inviting sound, upbeat rhythm and Spiro's mature and unique vocals. With a vocal style that can only be distantly compared to occasionally Steve Taylor or The Walter Eugenes, Spiro carries his songs with an identity all his own. "The Weight Is Gone" is more acoustic-driven while the worshipful melodic sounds of "Begin and End In You" carries a slight Geoff Moore vocal feel which fades by the time the chorus sneaks in. "Thrill" has more of a rock edge while Spiro slows things a little for the vertically written "You Are the One." "Beautiful" is a delicate ballad of praise and adoration to our Creator and Savior, easily a highlight on the album. The second half of the project is mostly acoustic-driven as the addictive "Let the Hallelujahs Cover You" appropriately closes Sing.
Sing introduces Aaron Spiro to the masses in a strong way. For the fans of soulful acoustic pop/rock with lyrics to move the heart of God, Sing is one of the best new artist debuts of the year.
