Here is a promise from the Lord for His faithful ones when our "strength is gone." When we feel like the whole world is against us, it can be emotionally and physically draining. When it seems as though we are fighting an uphill battle, it can suck the life out of us. When the little stressors of daily life pile up and seem like a mountain before us, it can whittle away our energy and our joy. But here, the Lord says that during those times, He will "rescue" those who are devoted to Him. If we will cling to this promise in times of trouble, and if we will call upon Him with a sense of urgency and expectancy, He is sure to deliver, revive, and restore us.
The second half of this verse says, "He will have mercy on those who serve Him, when He sees how helpless they are." The Lord has a special measure of mercy available for "those who serve Him." Even though our faith is in Him, and we have a keen awareness of His love and promises, there will still be times when we feel "helpless." If we make Him the first one we turn to during these times, He will save us simply because we belong to Him, and He is committed to our success and well-being. Scripture says: "Lord, saving me will bring glory to Your name. Bring me out of all this trouble because You are true to Your promises." (Psalm 143:11 TLB) Rescuing His followers when they cry out to Him glorifies the Lord and gets the attention of those who don't know Him. This is why our testimonies of God's grace can draw the lost to the Lord.
If you feel as though your strength is about gone right now, don't despair. God is telling you through this message that He has His eye upon you and your situation, and He already has a plan in mind for your deliverance. Today, declare as David the shepherd-king did - "My eyes are ever looking to the Lord for help, for He alone can rescue me. Come, Lord, and show me Your mercy, for I am helpless, overwhelmed, in deep distress!" (Psalm 25:15-16 TLB)
Prayer: Lord, when the pressures of daily life try to wear me down, please strengthen, revive, and restore me. Show me Your mercy in ways that will lift me up and encourage me. Teach me how to meditate on Your promises day and night, and to speak them aloud for my own benefit. Thank You that saving me and rescuing me will bring glory to Your name!
