Just in time for Halloween, Family Force 5 partnered with Skelanimals and Target retail stores to bring the special, limited edition Keep The Party Alive EP exclusively to Target. The EP is titled after a brand new song that was cut for a Skelanimals/Target Halloween ad campaign, and the disc features the song as well as accessible video content as well.
Keep The Party Alive EP is a cleverly constructed sampler of sorts. The six-song disc servers as an introduction of Family Force 5 to Skelanimal fans and Target shoppers, combining already available songs from Dance Or Die and Dance Or Die With A Vengeance. For fans of the band, there aren't too many extra goodies included here. Although it comes with high quality Quicktime video files of the Skelanimals promo commercial and the concept video for the song "Dance Or Die" on the disc, most fans will already have the five songs included along with the new track. The aforementioned title track may be worth the purchase of the disc, however. "Keep The Party Alive" is just as the title suggests - a fun dance party anthem that, although lacking any real lyrical substance, could have easily fit on Dance Or Die and contains enough of the Family Force charm to satisfy devoted listeners (although it is disappointing that the track isn't even three minutes long). For a brief time, this song was only available on this exclusive Target release (which proved really difficult to find), but now the track is available on iTunes and is well worth the single purchase.
Overall, Keep The Party Alive EP is perfect for introducing new fans to Family Force 5. While it's up to the individual fan whether or not the $5.99 EP is worth purchasing if they already have all of the band's albums to date, it may be more cost effective to just pick up the new track digitally. Still, this is a great opportunity for the band to expand their reach a bit and Family Force listeners who aim to collect every product with the band's name on it will certainly want to track down a copy of this one.
