The EP is a force to be reckoned with. They are becoming more and more prominent in the music world. If your favorite band hasn't produced an EP yet, it's probably for two reasons. 1.) They broke up years ago. 2.) They're in the studio producing it right now. Why this new trend of EP's? Probably because they please the music palette and make the listener hungry for more! Jumping onto the bandwagon is Leeland, giving a short and sweet worship experience in Majesty: The Worship EP.
As Leeland covers "Majesty," one of Delirious' greatest songs, they truly make it their own. While it doesn't travel too far from the original, it has an extra punch in instrumental orchestration. Plus, Leeland Mooring's vocals take the music to a whole new level. To say the least, it's a successful cover. However, this track was available months ago on WOW Worship (Purple) but honestly the benefit of the EP is found in the two b-sides from Love is On the Move.
"God of Ages" is probably one of the darker tracks that Leeland has produced. While the music is not heavy by any means, the song seems to carry a sense of brokenness with it as Leeland sings about depending on the Lord. Nevertheless, it's easy to see why it was not included on their latest LP as it really wouldn't have fit the theme. The EP concludes with "Sweet Communion." Although it has a beautiful theme of having a strong relationship with the Lord, it is missing the effectiveness of the previous tracks. Also, at one point it sounds kind of like the theme to the movie, The Neverending Story. This isn't to say the song is not good, but it's understood as to why it's a b-side.
Overall, it's a decent EP. It's not the most effective, but it really does stir up the desire for more, and this could be because it's only three songs long. Regardless, more Leeland is better than less Leeland. For the loyal fan this is a must have! For a newer fan… they just might like it too.
