Parachute Band
Technicolor

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 11 tracks: 45 minutes, 5 seconds
Street Date: October 14, 2008

New Zealand's own Parachute Band is back with the release of Technicolor. With the introduction of all new members in 2007's Roadmaps and Revelations, the band put on a new face and a new sound. Technicolor contains eleven original, upbeat worship songs primed for a new generation. The band has an alternative music style, but remains firmly planted in its heaven-centered roots.

The album is, for the most part, fairly upbeat, staying planted in their genre. A few acoustic ballads reminiscent of Chris Tomlin pop up here and there ("Your Word"), but the main flow of the disc is quick and up-tempo. Listeners will quickly hear influences of worship bands like David Crowder Band, and at the same time, bands such as Bloc Party and The Killers. Notable tracks include the fresh "Come to the River" and the anthem-like "Living Rain."

While Parachute Band has a slightly different take on the worship scene, that doesn't necessarily make this album a smash hit. Honestly, artists like Phil Wickham and David Crowder Band write better material lyrically, and non-worship bands in the realm of Mute Math, The Killers, Bloc Party, and We Are Scientists are superior at the music making itself. All in all, Technicolor isn't a bad album, it just doesn't give the listener anything more than many other artists already do.
