The Chemistry
The Chemistry

Album length: 12 tracks: 43 minutes, 9 seconds-->
Street Date: April 19, 2005

New school rock band The Chemistry is bringing the concept of musical diversity to a new level. Signed with major label Razor & Tie Records, The Chemistry uses deep and emotional lyrics to make their album, produced by mainstream band Third Eye Blind's former guitarist Kevin Cadogan, tremendously personable.

Although they do draw comparisons with some other bands of today, their songs take elements from so many different rock genres that you can't match them with just one band. From slower piano-based songs, to heavier rhythmic rock songs, to more pop/rock songs, The Chemistry has all the ingredients to make it big.

Opening their fresh self-titled national debut album is "From Within," an extremely honest and energetic song about remembering what God has given us while we're going through trials and tribulations. This song catches your attention right off the bat with lyrics like, "We could be so much more than we are." All of the songs on their 12-track album are melodically different, making the band hard to classify under one specific genre. Later on the album is "Deja Vous," a random pop/punk song that personally caught my attention. This and part of "She Takes You" remind me of secular bands like Good Charlotte, Third Eye Blind, Simple Plan, etc. Other notable songs are "Jones" and "At a Glance." The album ends on a soft note with "Last Impression," a slow piano-based song about how we shouldn't hate people even if we've gone through a bad relationship with them.

So although they seem to draw comparisons to a couple bands, their music can definitely be classified as unique. The Chemistry have great potential of becoming a big name in the Christian music and mainstream industries alike.
