In the modern music world, it's rare that a Nashville-based label will have signed a band that also hails from the same city. Though they aren't signed to a record label yet, the three guys who make up the alternative rock band Tomorrow Today (based out of Nashville, TN) have definite potential to make a name for themselves in the world of Christian music. They have already built a fanbase from having toured with the likes of Pillar, Falling Up, Project 86, and Subseven last fall. Having seen them perform twice so far, Tomorrow Today are some of the nicest guys I have ever hung around, and they are constant with their message of "Don't put off your oppportunity for salvation in Christ when you can do it today."
The band's short but intense EP has a clean and crisp sound quality due to the fact that it was produced by Travis Wyrick (Pillar, Disciple). The album begins with a ballad entitled "Backslide," which tells the listener "Don't close your eyes, can't you comprehend, it will be over like it never began," which implies that although we stumble and fall daily, God is there to pick us up and forgive us with His unfailing love. Heavy guitar rhythms combined with a semi-rolled drum beat begins the next track "In My Window," but then mellows out again for "Maybe," a song about hope and understanding. The closer "There You Go" is probably the best song on the EP, and brings forth a strong melody and chorus and speaks about showing God's love despite the false accusations and assumptions made by those who think Christians are nothing but spiritual hypocrites.
Due to the fact that TomorrowToday's self-titled EP is almost a year old, you'd almost expect them to be gearing up for a full length release in the near future. Unfortunately, until they find a label home, fans are only left with a 4 song teaser that serves as a great starting point for a band who have already shared the stage with some of today's biggest names in Christian rock. It will be quite a treat to hear what Tomorrow Today has planned next seeing as they have recorded several new songs that fans can hear at some of their shows. The world of CCM has never sounded so good with new and undiscovered talent such as this 3-piece band out of Tennessee.
