Keith Green was a pioneer for Christian pop and worship music. Since is premature death some 20 years ago in a plane crash, his music has still been impacting musicians in an amazing way. As yet another tribute to the songs of a great man, Your Love Broke Through: The Worship Songs Of Keith Green calls together a group of popular contemporary artists and worship leaders to pay their respects.

Unlike last year's Start Right Here: Remembering the Life of Keith Green, this album works. While Start Right Here suffered from a lack of unity and balance, Your Love... does what that album could not. It's a record I think Keith would have been proud to hear. For a man who wrote some truly amazing songs like "O Lord You're Beautiful," "Create in Me a Clean Heart," and the title track, the album accomplishes what it was set out to do: be a tribute, as well as a worship project.

Your Love Broke Through opens with the title track performed by Rebecca St. James accompanied by guitar legend Phil Keaggy. The contemporary tune is an excellent pop-worship rendition and an excellent way to kick off the record. Michelle Tumes does update of "There is a Redeemer," while Chris Tomlin's rendition of "Lord, I'm Gonna Love You" is equally as good.

Other album highlights are Martin Smith's (of Delirious?) melodic and humble "Create In My Heart a Clean Heart," and Jason Upton's upbeat "You Are the One." Your Love Broke Through is a nice inspirational compilation of soft modern renditions of classic worship songs penned by Keith Green. Although maybe more of a tribute than a worship record, it'll still be a nice addition to the worship fan's collection.
