While the title of this album, Image of New, is slightly misleading, Spur58's second independent release is an attempt to put a semi-new spin on some classic (as well as new) worship tracks.
The reason why I find Image of New to be a misleading title is because none of these tracks are new; all of these tracks are covers of popular worship songs and even a couple hymns. Not to say this is altogether bad. Aaron Ivey and the guys of Spur58 are good at what they do. Steven Bush is one of the best bassists I have ever heard and Ivey's voice is spot on. But creativity is hard when you are covering someone else's song.
Standout tracks include "Your Love Is Amazing," "Rescue Me," "Holy Spirit Fall," and the cover of the classic hymn, "Wonderful Cross." But if you were given the option of this record and some later Spur58 projects, I would suggest getting Blessed Catastrophe or Sleepwalkers.
