Ahh, the infamous WOW installment: 30 tracks consisting mostly of overplayed radio hits throughout the past year, reflecting the biases of the average Christian pop station. However, WOW Hits 2010 is a definite step-up from WOW compilations past.
Disc One, as is typical with the WOW series, is full of hits mainly among the adult contemporary crowd. Most of the inclusions are no surprise, and any casual listener is bound to have heard smash hits such as Matthew West's "The Motions," Jeremy Camp's "There Will Be a Day," and Newsboys' "In the Hands of God." However, the disc also includes some very catchy tunes (Mandisa's "My Deliverer," Brandon Heath's "Wait and See") as well as some great worship (Michael W. Smith's "A New Hallelujah," David Crowder Band's "How He Loves," Josh Wilson's "Savior Please"). The worship leader type will not be let down with this one.
Disc Two follows typical WOW routine by appealing to the Christian pop/rock fanatic. Any WOW collector could have guessed the appearences of tracks such as "Free to be Me" by Francesca Battistelli, "City on Our Knees" by tobyMac, and Tenth Avenue North's "By Your Side," but Remedy Drive's "All Along" and Group 1 Crew's "Keys to the Kingdom" make for great contributions to the set. Fans of the "chick rock" genre won't be disappointed as BarlowGirl returns with "Beautiful Ending" and Britt Nicole shows up with "The Lost Get Found."
All in all, I advise the avid radio listener looking for some new music to avoid this collection. However, if you're new to the Christian music scene or don't mind picking up a few tracks you've heard before, this is definitely a compilation worth your money.
