Michael W. Smith has been a staple in the Christian Music industry for decades. With 20+ albums under his belt, and 18 million+ records sold in his career, he can easily be described as a legend. With all of the music he has created over the years, you would think that he would slow down for a bit. That's not the case here. On the 20th anniversary of his Worship album from 2001, Smitty decided to release a re-recorded and re-imagining of the album, entitled Worship Forever.
I have to say, listening to updated, classic worship songs, such as "Forever," "Heart of Worship," "Above All," and "Awesome God" is refreshing and nostalgic to say the least. The full orchestra and special guest appearances (such as Matt Redman, Amy Grant, and Tauren Wells) only enhance the experience of the album. It truly gives it a cinematic feel that worship albums don't usually possess.
This worship album does not offer anything unique or original, but that wasn't the point of the album. Smitty's goal was to bring us back to a moment of worshiping our Lord and Savior. With stellar production and an earnest desire to praise our creator, this is one of the best worship albums of 2021.
