Toby [McKeehan] approached us during the Jesus Freak tour and said something to the effect of "Why don't you guys make a record as the dcTalk Band?" The four of us had TOTALLY different musical backgrounds and tastes. I think it was assumed that we would get songs from "professional" writers and do our thing interpreting them (which probably was the correct thing to do, in hindsight). I suggested that we set up in a studio, jam out some ideas, and see what comes out on our own before resorting to that - just see what we really sounded like. The results are what you hear on Platinum. It's just a fun little record that I'm very proud to have been able to make with my brothers.
