For our 7th annual Highlighting feature, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December. Normally, we select our top 25 most anticipated releases for the whole year, but we realize that it's tough to really gauge EVERYTHING that may release throughout a given year when we're making the list in January. So, for 2012, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December, and we're using this format again for 2013. Also, each list contains 15 artists/releases for a total of 30 in total for 2013. So, without further ado, we give you Highlighting First-Half 2013!

#15. The Fold
Moving Past

Release Date: Spring/Summer 2013
Another band who successfully completed a kickstarter. Dear Future, Come Get Me had some good songs on it, and this band certainly has the potential to bring an album-full of strong pop rock songs to the table this year.
        - Nathaniel Schexnayder

After a late 2012 Kickstarter campaign that the guys were heavily involving their fans with, former Tooth & Nail rock band The Fold is gearing up for Moving Past. As longtime fans of the band's work, they're promising their best music yet (a bold promise, indeed), but, incidentally, you can get a wee taste of what's to come with an exclusive free demo they provided us with to share with YOU on JFH's second free mp3 compilation! (Shameless plug, yes, but hey! We want you to hear it!)
        - John DiBiase

Since 2009's Dear Future Come Get Me, we've been given a couple funny parody songs, a theme song about Lego Ninjas, and an anthem for their hometown baseball team. As fun as all those were, that hasn't quite satisfied our desire for some new high-energy rock from the Chicago natives. The demo "Live Forever" is reminiscent of the excellent Stargazer EP, which has gotten our expectations high. Here's to hoping the $19k they raised helps The Fold make their best album yet.
