Zane Vickery's "All Things New" is a 5-minute indie gem that unfolds with deliberate grace, building from quiet introspection to a soaring, rock-infused climax. Eschewing a conventional, repetitive chorus, the song crafts three distinct choruses that trace Zane's emotional and spiritual journey. It opens with Vickery using visceral language that draws you into a story of contrasts. Lines like, "preacher talking about the promised land / with a snake in his hands" and "we changed with the towers that fell / bought a shirt at a judgment house / where they dragged me to hell" set the tension of clinging to the belief that God is "making all things new," despite plenty of life evidence to the contrary.

With his voice steeped in fragile conviction, Zane shares a relatable struggle between faith and doubt. As the track progresses, this faith frays into a searching question - "Are you making all things new?" - before evolving into a near-rhetorical plea, "Aren't you making all things new?" This lyrical arc mirrors the music's patient escalation, moving from sparse guitar to a driving, anthemic peak with gritty electric guitars and the sentiments "I will stay if held by you" and "ears to hear / and eyes to see / save me in my unbelief."

The song's unhurried pacing amplifies its emotional weight, capturing the raw tension between grief and hope. Vickery's vocals carry the ache of doubt and the yearning for redemption, each chorus marking a move in this spiritual wrestling match. The production supports this arc, starting with understated tones before unleashing a cathartic, stadium-ready finale. "All Things New" demands full attention, rewarding listeners with a payoff that's as triumphant as it is hard-won. Vickery remains an artist to keep an eye on, with a lyrical depth and willingness to bear his soul for the benefit of his listeners. "All Things New" is another fine addition to his excellent body of work, leaving this reviewer eager to hear more.
