Back after a very brief hiatus,
Relentless Pursuit released their newest single in April 2025. You can hear a noticeable difference in the production and sound of "Beyond Myself" very early on. The opening guitar riff sounds good but does feel a little thin compared to the verses. The bass helps thicken it up, but another layered track or something to give it some depth may have been helpful. However, when the song kicks in full blast, it's great. The heavy, chunky riffing and the dueling growls and screams are amongst the best of what Relentless Pursuit has released. Konradt growls, "
One who will bring peace to the waves. One who will always be the light of redemption to the faulty darkness," in a reference to our Savior within a song that talks about there being someone there beyond ourselves. The song closes with "
Will You be there to free me from the chains of my own sin to change what I have become." While I appreciate the contrast offered in the softer, airy portion of the song, "Beyond Myself" finds its brightest spot in the heavier and dirtier sides both musically and vocally. The production here isn't flawless, but it feels fresh when compared to previous releases -- like the project is starting on a new track. If you have been a fan of Relentless Pursuit's metal endeavors in the past, I'd recommend giving this one a listen as well.
