to be born into this abundant life
When I see their sad face,
I can afford to change the channel and lie
to myself
It wasn't I who denied their wealth
So what’s it to me?

I paint the line grey
and I walk it every day of my life
I know when I pray
I ask the Lord to intervene while I strive
to avoid
those piercing eyes, empty mouths, aching hearts, empty hands, reaching
Who are we to pick and choose
the prayers we answer and refuse?
We weigh them on a scale of inconvenience
I know if I were in their shoes
I would resent our every move
and turn a deaf ear to this
so-called "savior"
I stand here preaching
every rule and clever catch phrase I'm told
Tied up from teaching,
I am a fool for never getting to know you
It's not my job to judge
I'm supposed to show you that God is Love
and love is an action
Who are we to pick and choose
the prayers we answer and refuse?
It's more than just a question of obedience
I know if I were in their shoes
I would resent our every move
and turn a deaf ear to this
so-called "savior"
We are blessed beyond what we could ever need
Are we not called to be His hands and His feet?
If we ever answered, would we be scarred
with the evidence of a Christian?

Who are we to pick and choose
