We're all traveling on a journey
Born to find our native land
Like a scattered tribe returning
Tracing the ancient plan
Leaving the desert sand

We've found a highway few have taken
Winding up the mountainside
Other roads must be forsaken
Crossing the great divide
To love on the other side

And farther on the night will come
We'll struggle on through the rain
But we know that morning brings the sun
Lighting our way again

And someone's walked this road before
Someone who knows the way
With every new mile we trust him more
Following day by day
And we follow

Though the rocky road gets steeper
We will never turn around

Jesus is our guide and keeper
And sharing his love we've found
We're joyfully homeward bound
A friend we can lean on
Is leading us farther on
