08. Wake Up

High Flight Society
by High Flight Society

Put me in my place persuade me
Vindicate your reasons why
You lead them all away from safety
Drop the front and tell me why

You sell illusion
Confusion

Wake up see the truth
Every time you compromise
Wake up you’re the proof
Every time we fold they grow cold

Shown them on your own
Mistakes are not the same as disregard
So take another bitter drink of
Reassurance as you fall

I want to change things
I want to change
I want to change things
They never thought you would fall

Behind the Song:
"Anyone who considers themselves to be a Christian should hold themselves to a higher standard, especially those that are in the spotlight. Unfortunately, many Christians don't set the right kind of example and can leave those on the outside looking in confused and led astray. If we as Christians don't appear any different from the rest of the world, then our witness can be ineffective before we even open our mouths. This song is a call to all Christians to wake up and realize that the world is watching us - some hope to see us stumble, while others are looking on to see if what we have is real and has really changed us. With this fact in mind, we should try our best to live a truly righteous life. On an interesting musical side note, we didn't realize it at the time it was written but "Wake Up" actually features two different time signatures. However, this makes the middle section of the song, which is a call to "change things" that much more powerful." - High Flight Society
