Live From Hawaii: The Farewell Concert cover
08. Ocean Floor
Album: Live From Hawaii: The Farewell Concert
Artist: Audio Adrenaline

The mistakes I've made
That caused pain
I could have done without
All my selfish thoughts
All my pride
The things I hide
You have forgot about

They're all behind you
They'll never find you
They're on the ocean floor
Your sins are forgotten
They're on the bottom
Of the ocean floor

My misdeeds
All my greed
All the things that haunt me now
They're not a pretty sight to see
But they're wiped away
By a mighty wave
A mighty wave, mighty wave

They're all behind you
They'll never find you
They're on the ocean floor
Your sins are forgotten
They're on the bottom
Of the ocean floor

Take them away
To return no more
Take them away
To the ocean floor

Words and music by Mark Stuart, Will McGinniss, Bob Herdman, Tyler Burkum and Ben Cissell © 2001 Up In The Mix/Flicker USA Publishing (BMI) admin by EMI CMP.

Behind the Song:
'This was one of Tyler’s ideas, and it’s probably one of the most talked about songs on the album. It’s a beautiful reminder of the faithfulness of God, His grace in our lives and that He forgives our sins. It’s the symbolism of burying our sins at the bottom of the ocean – this deep, mysterious, powerful ocean He created. This huge ocean goes on forever, and we can’t even comprehend it when we’re standing on the edge of it. That’s where our sins are, at the very bottom of this deep, huge, powerful sea.' - Mark Stuart (Audio Adrenaline)

'Mark and I wrote the song together, but for me, I wrote the song from the idea of my own sins. I was writing it to myself, and finding comfort in the song. So often we kind of forget that we're forgiven. We forget to accept the gift of forgiveness and we carry this burden around that we don't need to carry. Christians need to hear that God isn't a spiteful God that pushes your sins back in your face. He's the opposite. He swallows your sins to the depths of the ocean. That's a powerful thing for a lot of people and I think that's why that song has touched so many lives.” - Tyler Burkum (Audio Adrenaline)
