"The title track of this record was written the week the record was due, and we just took the theme of the record and further explored it in this song. The author of Hebrews says about Jesus, “For by a single offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.” (Heb. 10:14) This is the call to be sanctified (set apart, holy) AFTER being justified. God has declared us (or decreed, like a judge in a courtroom saying ‘not guilty’) righteous when we put our faith in Christ, and now we are to BECOME righteous as we work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We have been justified and made right with God for eternity, now become sanctified in your daily life. In my case, I am working out my salvation with fear, trembling, and a host of other emotions and reactions. I sin and fall short constantly and it breaks my heart. I know I am forgiven, but it still hurts when I know that I am called to be more than that, and to grow in righteousness and obedience. In these times, it comforts me to know that God is standing by me, ready to forgive and pick me up. Become who you are as a friend. Become who you are as a writer. Become who you are as a spouse or parent. Become who you are as a librarian or construction worker. Become who you are as an individual.
